There
is a reason why we dream. Dreams are not just a product of the processing of
information that our brain conducts while we sleep. No, there is something more
to it than that. It is from dreams that some of the greatest inventions of man
have become a reality.
Take
for example the renowned chemist Dmitri Mendeleev, it was in his dream that he
figured out how to place all the elements on a periodical table. He quotes,
"In a dream I saw a table where all the elements fell into place as
required. Awakening, I immediately wrote it down on a piece of paper.”
Srinivasa Ramanujan discovered thousands of mathematical equations from his
dreams. René Descartes, the man who built much of the framework of the modern
scientific method mentioned that the basis of the method came to him in a dream
that he had on November 10, 1619.
These
are just a few examples of how people got the answers to some of the most
complex questions from their dreams and worked on bringing them to life. Our
subconscious mind is constantly trying to give us answers to questions we may
struggle with, many of these answers come to us in the form of dreams. However
most of us may struggle with recalling them. Did you know that an average human
being has about 6-7 dreams per night. It's just that our mind is not trained to
remember all them.
There
is a very simple exercise to start recalling your dreams. Our mind is a powerful
tool that can accomplish almost anything, all we have to do is practice. Before
going to bed, for at least 24 days (It takes around 24 days to form an habit),
keep telling yourself that 'I will remember all my dreams'. At first, you may
not see any results at all, but don't be alarmed by that, just keep doing it.
After a while you will notice that vague memories of your dreams will linger in
your mind when wake up, these too may fade away after a while, so start making
a note of it on your mobile or on a book. As you continue to do this, you will
notice that it's not just one dream that comes back to you but a number of
dreams.
Now
the fun doesn't just stop there. Try to understand what your dreams mean, see
if it applies to something that is happening in your every day life. Many of
the problems we struggle with have already been solved in our amazing mind that
God has blessed us with. It is all locked up away in our subconsciousness
waiting to be discovered. These answers come to us in the form of dreams. You
could say that it's God's way of connecting with us.
So
follow your dreams, not only the ones that come to you while you sleep, but
also the ones that you dream with open eyes too.
